Today, we discussed essay writing and looked at how to utilize the Alberta Education websight. I have pasted this down below (the address is to their website).

You need an attention getter about the topic
· Definitions
· Little known fact
· Quote
· Anecdote (little story)

Introduce the literature (genre, title, author, overview as it
relates to topic)

Must have a thesis (an arguable opinion that is on the topic)

Must have main points that will be proven by evidence in

the body of the paper

Body Paragraphs

Always start with an opinion (main point) that you will then
spend the rest of the paragraph proving

Follow this with evidence with connections to main point
Stated

Conclude paragraph with an opinion tying back to the main
Point

Conclusion:
Remind the reader that, through the evidence, you have
proven that your thesis is a sound (good) one.

Get outside the box a bit to reflect on the outcome
(alternate ending… what happened as a result…) to
Show a higher level of understanding on topic.
